Forklift Instructor Course


Course Background:

This course will offer an individual the opportunity to train others on the use of forklift  trucks. It is suitable for both experienced drivers and those who have completed the novice training programme. It is recommended that each participant has experience in warehousing and logistics.

Course Content:

  •  Legislation / code of practise
  •  Accident prevention accident analysis
  •  Forklift truck familiarisation, battery care and maintenance
  •  Forklift inspections
  •  Forklift hazards
  •  Instructor responsibilities
  •  Principles of instruction
  •  Job task analysis
  •  Presentation skills
  •  Demonstration skills
  •  Setting up, conducting and marking the basic operating skills tests
  •  External assessment and examination

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will have gained the knowledge and skill needed:

  •  Understand the requirements of the legislation and the code of practise that apply to forklift operation
  •  Carry out pre - inspection checks on a range of forklifts
  •  Be able to develop and present a forklift training course
  •  Be able to demonstrate forklift operation skills effectively
  •  Be able to assess forklift operation skills

This Course is Designed For:

Anyone who has sufficient experience in operating a forklift truck and who has the confidence to instruct others.

Training Methodology:

This course is classroom based with practical lessons with fork lift trucks. Participants will be videotaped during presentations and are assessed on their level of knowledge and skill in both theory and practical instruction on fork lift trucks.

What to Bring to the Course:

Participants must bring two passport photographs to this course.

Duration of the Course:

10 days.


A maximum of 6 per course.


On successful completion of the exam participants will be awarded a certificate of competence in forklift instruction.
