Course Background:

The provision of automated external defibrillators (AED’s) in workplaces to assist in the prevention of sudden cardiac death should be considered. Using an AED defibrillator is one of the vital links in the “chain of survival”. This course is essential for all health care providers.

Course Content:

• Introduction
• Adult CPR
• Child CPR
• Adult and child Bag-Mask technique and Rescue Breathing
• 2-rescuer CPR for Adults and Children
• Use of a defibrillator
• Adult and child choking
• Infant choking
• Infant CPR including 1-Rescuer CPR, 2-Rescuer CPR and infant bag-mask technique and rescue breathing

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course participants will gain the necessary skills and knowledge to:

• Assess the scene
• Assess the injury
• Deal effectively with common injuries

This Course is Designed For:

Anyone working as a health care provider.

Training Methodology:

This course is classroom based it is highly interactive with role-playing and practical exercises to reinforce understanding and learning.

What to Bring to the Course:

While pens and paper will be supplied, participants are free to bring their own. Participants should wear comfortable clothing for practical activities.

Duration of the Course:

4 hours.

Participants:

A maximum of 12 per course.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of this course participants will receive a certificate in IHF defibrillator training.
