Cardiac First Responder Instructor

Course Background:

This course will provide learners with the knowledge, skills and attitude to train others to be PHECC registered cardiac first responders. It also forms a core part of the occupational first aid instructor’s course.

Course Content:

• Administration of aspirin
• Stroke assessment (FAST Assessment)
• Recovery position
• Choking
• Critical incident stress awareness
• Cardiac First Responder Report (CFRR) and legal indemnity issues

Learning Outcomes:

•  Explain the role of PHECC
•  Explain the chain of survival demonstrate adult and child CPR 
•  Demonstrate the correct use of an AED
•  Demonstrate adult and child foreign body airway obstruction
•  Explain critical incident stress management
•  Demonstrate the correct administration of oxygen using a BVM
•  Explain the steps required in dealing with a stroke and heart attack
•  Demonstrate the recovery position

This Course is Designed For:

All employees wishing to become cardiac first responders. This course is also a prerequisite when qualifying to teach occupational first aid.

Training Methodology:

This course is classroom based; it is highly interactive with role-playing and practical exercises to reinforce understanding and learning.

What to Bring to the Course:

While pens and paper will be supplied, participants are free to bring their own. Participants should wear comfortable clothing for practical activities.

Certification:

On completion this course, participants will be certified as PHECC registered cardiac first responder instructors.
